These Chinese New Year treats are so simple and delicious! Filled with lots of crunch and nuttiness!
Ingredients
75g Egg whites (2 large eggs)
40-50g Granulated cane sugar (1/4 cup)
30g Margarine melted (3 tbsp)
30g All-purpose flour (1/4 cup)
95-125g Almond slices (1 cup)
Optional: 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract, 1/8 tsp Salt
Steps
Preheat the oven to 350F (177C).
Mix egg whites, salt, vanilla, lemon juice, and zest. (Do not whip egg whites)
Sift in flour and sugar. Add margarine. Mix until there are no lumps.
Spread mixture as thinly and evenly as possible on a tray.
Bake for 15-20 min.
Let brittles cool on a rack.
NOTE: Take out browned edges first and continue baking 10-15 min remaining until golden.
